Join our team at Ireland Army Health Clinic, Fort Knox, KY, as a dedicated Civilian Family Physician. This role offers a unique opportunity to care for military families in a state-of-the-art healthcare system, free from traditional administrative burdens and insurance hassles. You will serve a grateful patient base of active-duty service members, their families, and retired veterans in a highly collaborative environment.
The clinic operates Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers, as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C.1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.
Fort Knox is located in north-central Kentucky, offering a "best of both worlds" lifestyle with the security of a historic military installation and easy access to metropolitan areas and scenic landscapes. The region boasts a low cost of living, highly rated communities, and proximity to Kentucky's Bourbon Trail, horse country, and major cities like Louisville, Lexington, Nashville, and Cincinnati.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Primary Care Optimization (PCO) Clinical Lead, delivering full-spectrum outpatient care for a diverse panel of beneficiaries, from newborns to geriatrics, including acute illnesses and chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular conditions).
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Medical Staff, providing clinical guidance and consultative support to a multidisciplinary team, including mid-level providers, nursing staff, and medical technicians.
- Drive the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Model by overseeing and facilitating team-based care, ensuring seamless coordination, preventive medicine, and optimized clinic workflows.
- Maintain clinical excellence and policy compliance through continuing medical education (CME), adherence to Defense Health Agency (DHA) and Military Treatment Facility (MTF) protocols, and participation in in-service training and peer-review activities.
- Provide critical medical support during crises, responding to MTF-level disaster scenarios, mass casualty events, or local emergencies with immediate primary care and triage.
Requirements
- United States citizenship is required.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution. Foreign degrees must have verified U.S. equivalency (ECFMG, Fifth Pathway, or USMLE).
- Current, active, full, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
- Successful completion of an accredited Family Practice residency program, plus a minimum of four (4) years of combined residency and professional clinical experience.
Pay
Up to $315,000 per year.
