About the role

The Endocrinologist provides comprehensive outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of endocrine and metabolic disorders in an ambulatory setting. This role delivers patient-centered care, collaborating with primary care providers, advanced practice providers, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, obesity, adrenal disorders, pituitary disorders, and reproductive hormone conditions.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical histories and physical examinations.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Develop individualized treatment and disease-management plans.
  • Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, lifestyle modifications, and disease prevention.
  • Monitor chronic conditions and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with primary care physicians, surgeons, nurses, dietitians, and other specialists.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and continuing medical education activities.
  • Adhere to applicable regulatory, ethical, and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Physician License in Rhode Island.
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) preferred.
  • AHA Basic Life (CPR) certification.

Qualifications

  • Prior endocrinology clinical practice experience preferred.
  • Experience with insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM).
  • Strong patient communication skills.
