Physician

Description The Physician provides comprehensive, patient-centered medical care, including the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and health conditions within a family medicine or general practice setting. The Physician promotes preventive healthcare, coordinates care across the continuum of services, and works collaboratively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal health outcomes. Requirements Elicits and records information about the patient's medical historyExamines the patient to determine general physical conditionOrders or executes various tests, analysis, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's conditionComplete and sign all documentation in an accurate and timely mannerAnalyzes reports and findings of tests and of examination, and diagnosis conditionAdministers or prescribes treatments and drugsOversees timely immunizations of patientsAdvises patients concerning diet and methods for prevention of diseaseRefers patient to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatmentPerforms minor surgeryMay have to make house and emergency calls to attend to patients unable to visit office or clinicConducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurance coverageDemonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and is able to identify and categorize each patient's age-specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescents, or geriatric patientsMust complete work within scope of practice for current licensure or certificationOther duties, hours, and ACHS site placement may be assigned.
