Physician, Endocrinologist (32 to 36 hrs/wk) - New York (NY)
About the Role
We are seeking Physicians specialized in Endocrinology and Obesity Medicine to join our innovative, multidisciplinary chronic disease management team. Preferably, candidates hold a LOQ (Letter of Qualification) with the IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact) if living in an IMLC-eligible state. A valid medical license to practice and prescribe legally in NEW YORK (NY), VIRGINIA (VA), or MASSACHUSETTS (MA) is preferred. This is a Modified Full-Time (W2, 32 hrs/week or 36 hrs/week) remote position, designed for an American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) certified Endocrinologist with expertise in obesity medicine, comprehensive diabetes management, and a strong interest in collaborating with Endocrine Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a telemedicine setting, focusing on evidence-based obesity and diabetes treatment, including insulin titration and management of patients using insulin pumps and/or CGMs.
- Manage a patient panel and collaborate with APPs and Registered Dietitians specializing in diabetes treatment, primarily Type 2 Diabetes.
- Review charts and conduct initial/return visits for APP patients every third visit to ensure quality care and appropriate management of CKD/ESRD and CAD/CV conditions.
- Provide advanced treatment planning for complex endocrinology cases and escalated concerns.
- Prescribe non-controlled medications for obesity and diabetes, under direct care and in coordination with APPs.
- Conduct weekly 30-minute collaborative meetings and 30 minutes of asynchronous communication with assigned Endocrine-Specialized APPs for case reviews, clinical challenges, and mentorship.
- Ensure consistent adherence to clinical documentation, protocols, and treatment pathways, especially for complex diabetic populations.
- Support professional development of colleagues through clinical growth, feedback, and continuing education in endocrinology and obesity medicine.
- Participate in team-based care initiatives, departmental meetings, and quality improvement efforts within the diabetes and obesity medicine program.
- Participate in a rotating after-hours call schedule with reduced clinical hours during on-call weeks.
Qualifications
- Required: Board certification in Endocrinology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
- Highly Preferred: Certification by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) or 3+ years of clinical experience in obesity medicine and pharmacotherapy.
- Required: Active, unrestricted Medical State License in any US State (NY, VA, or MA preferred). Must hold or qualify for a Letter of Qualification (LOQ) through the IMLC.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex co-morbidities (CKD, ESRD, CAD/CV) and advanced diabetes management (CGMs, insulin pumps, complex regimens).
- Experience mentoring/collaborating with APPs, medical residents, or trainees in a clinical academic setting.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered, culturally competent care.
- Preferred: Bilingual (Spanish) with medical fluency.
