About the Role

The Amarillo VA Health Care System is recruiting for a Physician (Emergency Medicine) at the Amarillo VA Medical Center. A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be authorized for highly qualified candidates. This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).

Requirements

  • United States citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Qualifications

  • Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies include:
    • Residencies approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
    • One year of post-medical school training (internship, first year of residency, or transitional year residency) approved by ACGME or AOA, followed by two years of post-training independent practice in the U.S. under a full and unrestricted license.
    • Non-U.S. residency training programs followed by a minimum of three years of verified independent practice in the U.S. under a full and unrestricted license.
  • Physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.
