Physician - Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrician
About the role
The successful candidate will have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine. There are leadership opportunities within the Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics and the larger MaineHealth system. Research is encouraged through the Department of Pediatrics at Maine Medical Center Portland/Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, with support services available through the Maine Medical Center Research Institute and Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital Scholars Academy.
Responsibilities
- Provide diagnostic and management services for children with neuro-developmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disability, including management of comorbid attentional disorders, anxiety/mood disorders, learning concerns, and sleep disorders.
- Participate in teaching of MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland (MHMMCP) pediatric, internal medicine/pediatric and psychiatry residents, medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine, and primary care providers who pursue a 'mini-fellowship' through a HRSA LEND (Leadership Education in Neuro-Developmental Disabilities) grant.
- Engage in research through the Department of Pediatrics at Maine Medical Center Portland/Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, with support services available through the Maine Medical Center Research Institute and Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital Scholars Academy.
- Cultivate strong working relationships with colleagues in the divisions of child psychiatry and neurology, and with many local service agencies and schools.
Qualifications
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.
- Experience in providing comprehensive care for children with neuro-developmental disabilities.
- Strong teaching and mentoring skills.
- Ability to engage in research and contribute to the field of developmental-behavioral pediatrics.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
