About the role
The Physician reports directly to the NCH Physician Group’s CMO and is responsible for ensuring the clinical excellence of Medical Services. This role requires a broad range of functions including administrative, managerial, clinical, and supervisory duties.
Responsibilities
- Develops an active communication strategy with medical and other staff to keep them informed about requirements regarding the conduct of their work.
- Defines, focuses, and resolves problems in collaboration with other Physicians and clinical staff.
- Develops and implements clinical programs to provide efficient, effective, and quality medical care.
- Supervises Advanced Practice Nurses (ARNPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs).
- Ensures the effective protection and implementation of the patients' bill of rights.
- Provides direct patient care when necessary for the patient's well-being.
- Serves as a liaison between the medical staff and the Board of Directors.
- Supervises and orientates new Advanced Practice Nurses and medical staff.
- Resolves immediate clinical problems affecting patient care.
- Generates and identifies ideas for long-range strategies to ensure NCH Physician Group’s future clinical and economic success.
- Participates in managed care negotiations and reviews all managed care contracts for clinical feasibility.
- Remains educated on contemporary management of care and assists in responding to appeals and denials from third-party payers.
- Carries out all other duties necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of NCH Physician Group.
Qualifications
- Licensed in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 3 months of hire OR Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required from the same organizations as deemed necessary by the physician’s specialty and/or scope of practice within 3 months of hire.
- Board Certified in area of specialty, or Board Eligible with completion of Board Certification within one year of employment.
- Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
