Physician- Correctional Health (701-12 hr. Nights) (25k retention Bonus)

Responsibilities

• Performs intake health assessments
• Manages urgent care issues
• Identifies and treats chronic care illnesses
• Collaborates with advanced practice practitioners
• Works in conjunction with Harris County Sheriff Office deputies
• Works in conjunction with nursing staff, and on-site services such as: radiology, pharmacy, nutrition, dental, and laboratory services
• May require communication with Harris Health Transfer Center or other local hospitals if patients require a higher level of care
• Ensure organizational compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine – Board Certified or board‑eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine; must maintain board certification throughout employment and become board certified before board eligibility runs out.
• Must meet all credentialing criteria as set by the Medical Executive Committee.
• Hold a valid Texas medical license (M.D. or D.O.) and be registered as a physician in the State of Texas.
• Hold an active Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) License.
• Completion of an ACGME accredited 3‑year or 4‑year residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• Request for leave must be submitted sixty (60) days in advance for approval to enable schedule arrangements.
• Continuing Medical Education (CME) consists of five business days per year.
• Notice must be given sixty (60) days in advance to make arrangements for coverage of services.
