About the role

The Physician Assistant provides high-quality, patient-centered care within the Harris County Jail in a fast-paced and mission-driven environment. This role includes performing intake health assessments, delivering urgent and procedural care, managing chronic conditions, and providing emergency stabilization when needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs intake health assessments
• Delivers urgent and procedural care
• Manages chronic conditions
• Provides emergency stabilization when needed
• Works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams
• Maintains the ability to function independently
• May provide flexibility and support across the broader provider workforce
• Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor of Science from an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), PA-C
• Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Texas

Qualifications

• Communication Skills: Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact), Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking), Writing / Correspondence, Writing / Reports
• Proficiencies: Personal Computer, Suturing uncomplicated wounds, Splinting, EKG Interpretation, Analytical abilities, Mathematics, Medical terminology, Research knowledge
