About the role

The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System (VANWIHCS) seeks a board certified physician to serve as the Chief of Neurology. The incumbent is assigned as a clinician-educator to the Neurology Section of the Hospital and Specialty Medicine Department. The incumbent plays a major role in the Neurology Section's clinical, administrative, and educational consultative support to all inpatient services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive consultative support to all inpatient services
  • Prescribe medication, perform minor procedures, injections, and laboratory requests
  • Treat patients in an outpatient setting
  • Guide Fellows, Residents, and Medical students on a rotation from academic affiliates
  • Administer administrative duties including sectional and medical subspecialty service responsibilities and serving on hospital committees
  • Attend the Neurology consult service

Requirements

The incumbent must hold a current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the United States. They must also have completed residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Qualifications

  • Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
  • Board certified/eligible Neurologist
  • 5 years of leadership experience preferred

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Benefits

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, inpatient call/rounding may also be necessary on weekends/holidays as staffing allows.
