Physician - Cardiovascular Electrophysiologist

Responsibilities

• Clinical practice.
• Teaching Cardiology fellows, residents, and medical students.
• Performing inpatient or outpatient cardiovascular consultation services.
• Reviewing physical requirements and conducting physical examinations of various categories of military and civilian personnel.
• Serving as academic faculty for cardiovascular fellowship training program.
• Providing medical consultative services and chart review for quality assurance purposes or risk management.
• Show academic excellence as demonstrated by peer reviewed publications, presentations at major scientific meetings and/or active participation in ongoing research.
• The position includes a faculty appointment at the affiliated Louisiana State University Health and Science Center.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Cardiac Electrophysiologist.

Qualifications

• Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship; Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine; Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia; Residency Training.
• Additional Requirement: Board Eligible or Board Certified in Cardiac Electrophysiologist.

Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm (On Call as required).
