About the role
This is a part-time position available at the Joliet Job Corps Center - Physician Support Services.
Responsibilities
- Provides medical services, serves as medical director, and provides supervision.
- Guides the Health and Wellness Program and assumes responsibility for the quality of care rendered.
- Manages daily operations, while center nurses implement the Health and Wellness Program such as the Family Planning Program or Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles (HEALs) Program.
- Final administrative decision making authority on all matters concerning students and staff.
- Implements assessment, treatment, emergency care, and case management.
- Adheres to current HIPAA regulations regarding consent and confidentiality for protected health information.
- Conducts cursory medical evaluations and entrance physical examinations.
- Performs required entry laboratory studies.
- Administers immunizations and vision/hearing screenings.
- Provides daily walk-in clinic and appointment system for above and for episodic illness or injury assessment.
- Offers primary emergency care, treatment of urgent conditions, and referrals for specialized care.
- Manages chronic health conditions and oversees weight management program.
- Attends relevant conferences and collaborates with various staff members.
Requirements
- Active license to practice as a Physician in the state of Illinois.
- Experience in providing physician health services for adolescents and young adults who are socially and economically disadvantaged.
Qualifications
- Must be able to meet the center's schedule as outlined (Wednesday: 10:00-1:30pm).
