About the role
The Physician Assistant Trauma position is available at California Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. This role is a PRN position in the Trauma Center, with a shift of 24 hours per week and a weekly schedule that varies.
Responsibilities
- Gathers complete history of patients and performs complete physical examinations or focused physical examinations for specific complaints.
- Completes discharge summaries and maintains documentation on patient visits.
- Conducts daily patient rounds and sees patients in outpatient clinic, as needed.
- Recognizes and evaluates situations which require immediate attention of supervising physician and which require treatment procedures essential for life of patients; responds in appropriate manner.
- Prescribes and dispenses drugs and medical devices in accordance with regulations established by the Arizona Joint Board of Medical and Osteopathic Examiners in Medicine and Surgery.
- Provides care to and coordinates the care of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Orthopedic Patients at CHMC.
- Collaborates closely with the Medical Staff, Nursing Staff, ancillary personnel, patients and their families to facilitate the ongoing development of the interdisciplinary team approach to the care of the patient.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years in acute setting working with trauma, orthopedic and ICU patients.
- Surgical and Trauma training.
- First assist, H&P, assessment of the trauma patients.
- Current PA licenses, ACLS, PALS, BLS are required.
- Auditing ATLS skills desirable.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current PA license in the state of California.
- Current CPR certification (BLS).
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications.

Pay
The posted compensation range for this position is $79.83 - $118.74 /hour, which is a reasonable estimate based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit Health may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
