Physician Assistant - Surgical - Cardiac Surgery

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant to join a high-performing Cardiothoracic Surgery team, with responsibilities spanning inpatient care and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Providing care to critically ill patients in the Cardiothoracic ICU, including managing ECMO, Impella, IABP, and CRRT support.
• Assisting in cardiothoracic surgeries, such as endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting.
• Performing bedside procedures like thoracentesis, line placements, and chest tube management.
• Managing pre-, peri-, and postoperative patient care, conducting rounds, and coordinating treatment plans.
• Conducting comprehensive assessments, ordering tests, prescribing medications, and supporting inpatient consults across various services.
• Leading clinical efforts, ensuring documentation accuracy, managing supplies, and maintaining a safe clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with NCCPA certification.
• Active state licensure and prescriptive authority.
• At least 2 years of experience in surgical or acute hospital care, with ICU and invasive procedure skills.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care, coupled with excellent judgment and communication skills.

Schedule

This role involves flexible shifts with 24/7 in-house coverage.
