The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Transitional Care Unit (TCUP) at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital are seeking experienced Advanced Practice Providers.

About the role

The PICU and TCUP teams are comprised of full members who collaborate with attending physicians, fellows, and residents to ensure the safe delivery of care. These providers are expected to meet productivity standards set by the Division Chief and perform relevant patient care activities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with medical staff to provide comprehensive care to critically ill and recovering pediatric patients.
  • Assist in the management of complex cases, including those requiring specialized interventions like mechanical ventilation and titration of anticoagulant therapy.
  • Manage patients requiring respiratory support, including BIPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula.
  • Rotate 12-hour shifts to cover the needs of the PICU and TCUP.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience in Pediatric Critical Care units.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in a Pediatric Critical Care unit.
  • California Physician Assistant (PA) License without restriction.
  • National Board Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • California Driver License (if required for position).
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Additional required AHA certifications: PALS.
  • Additional required certifications: None.

Pay

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.

Schedule

The Advanced Practice Providers on the PICU and TCUP Team rotate 12-hour shifts to cover the needs of the units.
