Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate care for patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures.
- Conduct pre-procedural history, examination, evaluation, and documentation; order appropriate laboratory and imaging tests.
- Deliver post-procedural follow-up care, including daily inpatient rounds, tube checks and removals, line placement checks, documentation, and ordering follow-up tests as indicated.
- Provide consultation, evaluation, and coordination of care for select radiology procedures such as uterine artery embolization, vertebroplasty, and kyphoplasty.
- Once proficient, perform minor interventional procedures including PICC line placement, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, paracentesis, arthrogram injections, feeding tube placements, and other minor procedures.
- Participate in the outpatient interventional radiology clinic, including patient follow-up and Breast Center procedure follow-up.
- Conduct post-procedural phone interviews with outpatients, schedule follow-up care, and collect satisfaction data.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Act as a liaison with referring providers and collaborate with the marketing team.
- Assist in developing educational materials for patients and referring physicians.
- Round on inpatient cases daily and build relationships with hospitalists, residents, and nursing staff to promote interventional radiology services.
- Participate in periodic outreach and customer service visits to referring physicians.
- Cook up and manage clinic operations in collaboration with hospital department managers.
- Participate in professional development activities, maintain professional affiliations, and attend conferences and workshops.
- Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested, including the Interventional Services Committee.
- Demonstrate awareness of and adherence to HIPAA and Medicare compliance standards.
- Prescribe, order, administer, and monitor sedation patients in an imaging center environment.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current PA licensure in the State of Washington and national certification by the NCCPA.
- One year of professional experience preferred (new graduates with a strong interest in radiology will be considered).
- Familiarity with EPIC systems preferred.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Current DEA number or eligibility to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
