About the Role
The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) provides high‑quality, patient‑centered care as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other professionals, the APP assesses, diagnoses, treats, and manages patients within the scope of practice and specialty. The role includes delivering evidence‑based care, promoting positive patient outcomes, maintaining professional and regulatory standards, and supporting the clinical, educational, and operational goals of the department and organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent patient care in Internal Medicine, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management.
- Deliver evidence‑based, patient‑centered care and promote positive health outcomes.
- Maintain professional and regulatory standards.
- Support clinical, educational, and operational objectives of the department.
- Teach medical students, residents, and fellows in an outpatient clinical setting.
- Take an active role in the new internal medicine residency program.
- Participate in didactic conferences and faculty teaching activities.
- Engage in scholarly and research opportunities.
Qualifications
- Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Eligibility for a West Virginia state medical license.
Schedule
- 40 weekly hours.
- Non‑Exempt position (United States).
Location
The position is based in the academic outpatient internal medicine department at WVU Medicine’s Berkeley Medical Center, a 200‑bed teaching hospital in Winchester, West Virginia. The facility includes a 19‑bed ICU, cardiac catheterization lab, interventional radiology, and a full range of medical and surgical services, with collaborative ties to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Winchester is a historic city known as the “Apple Capital,” featuring a vibrant downtown, historic district, and annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival.
