Join our cardiac surgery team managing adult patients across CABG, valve, aortic, MCS, and transplant care. As a primary inpatient provider, you’ll practice at the top of your license with strong physician collaboration, clinical autonomy, and exposure to advanced cardiovascular cases.

Position Details

  • 3x12s | Rotating day/night shifts (option for straight nights or rotation)
  • Lead inpatient post-Operative management of cardiac surgery patients in an intermediate care unit (PCU)
  • Perform assessments, develop treatment plans and manage acute care needs
  • Career inpatient post-Operative management of cardiac surgery patients in an intermediate care unit (PCU)
  • Coordinate care with surgeons, fellows and interdisciplinary teams
  • Manage orders and interpret labs, imaging and cardiac monitoring
  • Document H&P's, progress notes and discharges
  • Educate patients and support safe transitions of care

Overview

Role Purpose The Physician Assistant (Hospitalist) utilizes a high degree of knowledge, skill, and competence to deliver inpatient care in a hospital setting. This position assesses, diagnoses, and initiates a patient care treatment plan within the scope of a formal physician collaborative practice agreement. In this position, patient care is performed with considerable independence, guided by physician-approved protocols, and evaluated through chart review, consultations, and the observation of results under the general medical direction of their collaborating Hospitalist physician.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in professional development
  • Manages the health care of patient populations with compassion through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician
  • Prescriptive responsibilities are reviewed by collaborative physician
  • Careers inpatient post-Operative management of cardiac surgery patients in an intermediate care unit (PCU)
  • Manages the health care of patient populations, in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician, to ensure promotion of health and wellness through education of patients and families, coordination of services and placing referrals
  • Develops treatment plans, treats patients with acute problems including illnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician

Minimum Requirements

  • Education Bachelor-PA Prog OR Master-PA
  • Experience Supervisor Experience No Experience
  • Licenses & Certifications Physician Assistant Experience Preferred Requirements 2-5 years
