We are seeking motivated candidates interested in academic medicine for our Advance Practice Clinician Hospitalist program within the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Utah's School of Medicine. This role focuses on providing inpatient care and may require medication administration within the scope of practice and according to state law.

Responsibilities

  • Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
  • Performs physical examinations.
  • Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Orders and supervises the administration of blood products.
  • Reaches tentative diagnoses of medical, surgical, and other conditions.
  • Develops treatment plans in conjunction with the attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
  • Participates in continuing medical education, including specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards, and conferences.
  • Assists in the collection of data for research projects.
  • Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
  • Participates in special projects and committee functions.

Requirements

  • Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant from the State of Utah.
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system (to be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or privileging criteria.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding patient status.

This position is patient-sensitive and requires immunization according to CDC standards and hospital policy, with limited exemptions for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs.

Pay

$113,043 to $150,033

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some weekends required.
