Responsibilities

  • Make decisions concerning primary care needs of patients with physicians.
  • Prescribe for and treat a variety of diseases, disorders and injuries for assigned patients.
  • Discriminate between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional or mental problems of clients.
  • Write prescriptions, order the administration of medications, dispense medications and prescribe controlled substance in accordance with approved treatment protocols.
  • Evaluate the total health care needs of patients and develop plans to meet clients' needs.

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship Required
  • At least one year of experience as a certified physician assistant treating patients in a Family Practice setting.
  • Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARCPA), or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education.
  • Successful completion of the National Commission of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education (CME) and re-certification.
  • All Applicants must be licensed as a Physician Assistant by the recognized licensing agency of a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
