Physician Assistant, Emergency Department

About the Role

The Physician Assistant (PA) provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients across inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory settings as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct medical histories, physical exams, review diagnostics, and develop treatment plans.
• Perform procedures, prescribe medications, and manage patient care within scope and legal guidelines.
• Assist in surgeries as a first or second assistant when appropriate.
• Educate patients and families on care plans, resources, and medication side effects.
• Provide psychosocial support and ensure proper documentation adhering to regulations.
• Maintain high ethical standards, professionalism, and compliance with healthcare standards.
• Engage in ongoing professional development, serve as a resource for staff, and participate in research and quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Active certification and licensure (e.g., NCCPA, State License, ACLS/BLS, DEA if applicable).
• Preferred clinical experience in the relevant specialty, with ability to demonstrate current competence.
