About the Role
This position provides high quality primary care or designated specialty to promote the enhancement of health and prevention of illness. This position practices within the scope of licensure and in accordance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Responsibilities
- Provides patient treatment through establishing diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Orders appropriate labs, diagnostic imaging, and completes processes to facilitate patient treatment plans.
- Consult by telephone with patients and other health care providers.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient visits, plans and communications.
- Participate fully in quality assurance activities and measures.
- Participate fully in scheduled Provider meetings, other meetings and/or projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.
- Function at all times within Island Hospital’s guidelines for HIPAA compliance and Confidentiality requirements.
- Must have regular attendance standard and must stay at or below average sick leave utilization levels.
- Make decisions about the assessment and diagnosis of health issues; conduct physical exams; order appropriate laboratory and other diagnostic tests; develop and implement treatment plans for acute and chronic illnesses; prescribe appropriate medications; monitor patient status; educate and counsel patients and their families.
- Decisions referred to a higher authority include second opinions for surgery; management of complex patients; and evaluation and treatment of infertility.
- Decisions dictated by policy or procedure include certain drug regimens which are dictated by formulary; breast exam guidelines; abnormal PAP smear follow-up and well adult care guidelines.
Qualifications
- Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of Urgent Care, Walk In Clinic or Family Medicine experience and will require some clinical independence.
- Successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant program or Active Washington State Physician Assistant License or Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner License or the ability to obtain one.
- BLS certification.
- Ability to maintain licensure and required continuing education.
Skills
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, etc.).
- Crisis assessment and intervention expertise.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a healthcare setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with electronic health records.
- Ability to manage a caseload effectively.

$141,275 - $155,403 – DOE
