Physician Assistant - Cardiothoracic Surgery - Grand Rapids, MI

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Physician Assistant to join our dynamic Cardiothoracic Surgery inpatient APP team. Our Cardiothoracic Surgery program is nationally recognized and performs the highest volume of adult open-heart surgeries in Michigan. The APP will function independently as a cardiothoracic surgery physician assistant, providing surgical first assisting in the operating room, endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting, and critical care and general medical care of pre- and post-operative cardiothoracic surgery patients. The role involves working collaboratively with physician colleagues in a team-based care model to deliver high-level cardiac care.

2+ years of APP experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Surgical first assisting in the operating room
• Endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting
• Critical care management of cardiothoracic surgery patients
• General medical care of pre- and post-operative cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Collaborate with physician colleagues in a team-based care model

Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant educational program
• LIC-Physician Assistant - State of Michigan (required upon hire)
• CRT-Physician Asst Certified (PA-C) - NCCPA (required upon hire)
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC (required within 90 days)
• CRT-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - AHA (required within 120 days)
• CRT-Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA (required within 120 days)
