Position Summary

The Physician Assistant in the Cardiology Department provides quality service by performing a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for the admission of patients that are scheduled for cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology studies, stress tests, echos and chest pain (observation patients). The PA works in conjunction with the Cardiologist to provide consultation to in-patients. The processes of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation is utilized.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers quality care in preparing cardiology patients for invasive cardiac procedures (cardiac cath/EP), echo and stress testing, evaluating and treating cardiac pts, obtaining consents, and following patients post cardiac catheterization as well as admitting and discharging patients from the cardiology service.
  • Aids in growing the Cardiology line of services at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

Requirements, Experience And Qualifications

  • Graduate of an educational program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), typically a Master's Degree.
  • New York State Licensed Physician and National Board Certification in a specialty required.
  • Previous experience relevant to the area of cardiology and prescriptive privileges in New York State.

Prior to start date

  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Mut Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
