Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Teach courses consistent with the catalog description and content map
  • Teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and place and meet required contact hours
  • Integrate evidence-based practice in fulfilling all roles of faculty practice
  • Collaborate with colleagues for instructional improvement via professional peer review
  • Submit reports and requests for information promptly
  • Fulfill the Code of Ethics of the university and for the profession
  • Create an effective learning environment for students
  • Effectively communicate with students
  • Facilitate critical reflection and support innovation in students
  • Provide timely feedback and fairly evaluate students’ progress
  • Evaluate student clinical, laboratory and classroom performance and provide individual counsel and guidance as necessary to promote student success
  • Propose plans to improve students’ performance
  • Maintain appropriate records such as clinical evaluations, test scores, anecdotal notes and attendance on an ongoing basis to document evidence of student progress

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; Master’s degree in discipline or related field required; Doctorate in a related field preferred
  • Licensure/Certification: Current Indiana licensure as a Physician Assistant or eligible for Indiana license; Maintains current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification
  • Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in the discipline; Prior teaching experience in clinical or classroom setting preferred
  • Requirements for Clinical Instruction: Current TB testing; Current CPR certification; Documentation of Hepatitis B immunization; Other requirements as specified by clinical facilities
  • Knowledge and Skills: Competence in educational principles and techniques used in higher education classrooms, laboratory and clinical settings; Knowledge of the profession including theory and practice, procedures, and regulations; Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community
