About the role
UTHealth Houston is seeking an Emergency Room Physician Assistant (AP) for Night shifts at Lydon B. Johnson Hospital and Memorial Hermann Hospital (TMC). This full-time position offers comprehensive emergency medical care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care, including medical screening assessments, diagnostics, and treatment plans in collaboration with attending physicians.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as labs, imaging, and EKGs; perform advanced procedures; and document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Participate in trauma and resuscitation efforts, communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members, and ensure continuity of care through appropriate referrals and follow-up planning.
Requirements
- Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified.
- Proficient in the use of medical and surgical instruments and equipment required by work.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree as Physician Assistant required.
- Previous Experience In Area Of Clinical Focus preferred.
- Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Skills
- Ability to manage Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.

Schedule
Multiple Night Shifts: 6 PM-6 AM, 6 PM-2 AM, 10 PM-6 AM, 6 PM-4 AM.
Disaster/Inclement Weather Procedures: Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs) and Faculty members are considered essential personnel and may be required to report during unexpected disasters or inclement weather events.
