PHYSICIAN ADVISOR
About the role
The Physician Advisor, in partnership with Care Management leadership, acts as a champion of high quality admissions and all transitions of care across the continuum. The Advisor acts as an advisor, educator and administrative support to Care Management and the Care Transitions Program. The Advisor also serves as a liaison between these programs, the hospital's medical leadership and physician staff. The Advisor communicates and provides data to physicians, care managers, nurses and other clinical staff related to the efficient and effective utilization of clinical resources. The Advisor serves as a liaison to third party payers concerning matters related to utilization review, care coordination and transitions of care planning.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a champion of high quality admissions and transitions of care across the continuum.
- Works closely with Care Management leadership to ensure high quality admissions and transitions of care.
- Provides educational and administrative support to Care Management and the Care Transitions Program.
- Serves as a liaison between Care Management, the hospital's medical leadership, and the physician staff.
- Communicates and provides data to physicians, care managers, nurses, and other clinical staff regarding the efficient and effective utilization of clinical resources.
- Serves as a liaison to third party payers concerning matters related to utilization review, care coordination, and transitions of care planning.
Requirements
- Required: 5-7 years of experience.
- Required: MD/DO Degree.
- Required: Current Maryland MD or DO License.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Specialty certification in internal medicine.
Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with utilization review and care coordination.
- Knowledge of third-party payer processes.
