Physician Advisor

The Physician Advisor is responsible for improving quality, utilization, patient satisfaction, and efficiency through performance improvement and education initiatives. They conduct clinical reviews for appropriateness of care, help reduce readmissions, and support resource management by collaborating with Care Coordination, physicians, nursing, and administrative teams. Key duties include assessing levels of care, managing denials, reviewing clinical documentation, and facilitating care transitions. They lead hospital-wide initiatives, participate in complex care rounds, and serve as a clinical resource for developing guidelines and pathways. Qualifications include a Doctorate in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine, with preferred board certification and management certifications. Minimum experience required is 8-10 years of clinical practice and 1-3 years in utilization management. Essential skills include strong communication, leadership, organizational, and analytical abilities, with a focus on fostering physician engagement and managing multiple activities under stress. They also support regulatory compliance, participate in quality improvement efforts, and collaborate with various departments to enhance patient care and hospital performance.
