About the role

The physical therapist will lead the Otago Exercise Program (OEP) for individuals living with dementia in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The OEP is a fall prevention program. It will be group-led and involve strength and balance training from the OEP manual as well as walking.

Responsibilities

  • 5-7 participants living with dementia per group 3x/week, including 30 min of strength and balance training and 20 minutes of walking.
  • Oversee volunteers and legally authorized representatives.
  • Work with healthcare professionals at the nursing home and/or assisted living facility to communicate about participant needs.
  • Transport participants to and from their room.
  • Report adverse events.
  • Take exercise attendance.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy
  • Licensed physical therapist
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Pay

Pay Band: 13

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Schedule

Shift: Days/M-F (.49 fte)

Conditions of Employment

  • All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University.
  • If applicable for the specific position based on the duties: the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage.
  • Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle.
