About the Role
Implements patient care plans as directed by the physical therapist, treating individuals of all ages. Acts as a professional role model and a clinical resource for staff and students.
Responsibilities
- Educates patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
- Follows and adjusts the treatment plan based on patient response, in communication with the supervising therapist, and documents accordingly.
- Implements intervention plans with activities that are functional and tailored to patient needs, using standardized outcome measures.
- Documents care in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team, providing education and family training as needed.
- Communicates patient status, functional performance, and discharge recommendations clearly to the medical team.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in a related field.
- Licensure as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Completion of continuing education on acute stroke care.
- Passing the board exam.
