Qualifications & Skills

• Associate's Degree in a related field
• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Illinois
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days
• Completion of required continuing education for acute stroke care
• Ability to adjust treatment based on patient response and evidence
• Effective communication and documentation skills
• Knowledge of standardized outcomes measures and regulatory standards

Key Responsibilities

• Educates patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare providers
• Follows and adjusts the therapist's plan of care, documenting all actions
• Implements functional intervention plans tailored to patient needs
• Uses standardized measures to assess functional performance accurately
• Collaborates with the healthcare team and provides family training
• Communicates patient status, performance, and discharge needs to the medical team
