Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day treatment, including but not limited to training in bed mobility, transfers, gait, stairs, ambulation on various surfaces, therapeutic exercise programs for ROM, strengthening, stretching, re-education, balance, and coordination programs.
  • Communicate with other disciplines as needed to enhance interdisciplinary team rapport and improve patient care.
  • Participate in home visits, family conferences, and community awareness/marketing activities when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in resident medical records.
  • Supervise rehab and restorative aides regarding patient treatments, ROM, ambulation, and positioning of patients.
  • Ensure treatment is provided as per the plan of treatment and complete all required documentation on time.
  • Meet department standards for discharge charts, including FIMS, home treatment programs, and equipment recommendations following discharge.

Qualifications

  • Current MA State License as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • Graduate of an APTA-approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program.
  • Must comply with state, federal, and APTA standards of practice when planning and carrying out treatment programs.
