Physical Therapy Assistant PRN IRF
About the Role
The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for providing services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients with injuries or disease as directed by the Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant works closely with the Physical Therapist and patients to restore, maintain, and promote the patient’s overall fitness and health. They may also assess and provide input to the Physical Therapist to determine the patient's ability to be independent and reintegrate into the community or workplace after injury or illness, or assess the need for placement in a SNF/Rehab Unit. The role involves communicating changes in the patient’s condition to the Physical Therapist and documenting treatments, their purpose, and the patient’s progress toward established goals.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care for patient populations served in the department.
- Assess, plan, evaluate, and document care in coordination with the healthcare team across the continuum.
- Assess patients' and families' ability to learn and incorporate teaching throughout hospitalization and in preparation for discharge.
- Deliver compassionate, holistic care while supporting the rights and dignity of all patients.
Qualifications
- State of Tennessee Physical Therapist Assistant License (Required).
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current (obtained/maintained within timeframes required by hospital policy).
