The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides direct rehab care in physical therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy (ASPT)
- Currently registered/licensed in the applicable State; must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment
- One (1) year experience in post-acute care or related setting preferred
- CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation; must remain current during employment
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care
- Ability to implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
- Proficiency in patient rights, safety, and sanitation
- Strong interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with associates, vendors, patients, and families
- Adherence to confidentiality policies and Life Care’s Code of Conduct
- Completion of mandatory compliance training
Responsibilities
- Follow physical therapy treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising PT
- Chart appropriately and timely
- Utilize therapy software accurately
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients
- Assist in the evacuation of patients as needed
- Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Concentrate, use reasoning skills, and exercise good judgment
- Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
- Participate in community health matters/projects as appropriate
- Liaise with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs
- Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times
Skills
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
