The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) provides direct rehab care in physical therapy to patients upon physician referral under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT), in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy (ASPT)
  • Currently registered/licensed in the applicable State; must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment
  • One (1) year experience in post-acute care or related setting preferred
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtained during orientation; must remain current during employment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing post-acute care
  • Ability to implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Proficiency in patient rights, safety, and sanitation
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with associates, vendors, patients, and families
  • Adherence to confidentiality policies and Life Care’s Code of Conduct
  • Completion of mandatory compliance training

Responsibilities

  • Follow physical therapy treatment plans for patients under the direction of the supervising PT
  • Chart appropriately and timely
  • Utilize therapy software accurately
  • Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude toward patients
  • Assist in the evacuation of patients as needed
  • Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
  • Concentrate, use reasoning skills, and exercise good judgment
  • Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Participate in community health matters/projects as appropriate
  • Liaise with patients, families, and support departments to plan for patient needs
  • Demonstrate good body mechanics at all times

Skills

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
