Description

Provides physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to patients across the age continuum. Assists the physical therapist within established guidelines to develop a rehabilitative plan of care with realistic goals, based on a functional evaluation or reassessment. Provides education to patients, family members, students, staff and to the community at large. Coordinates services with other medical disciplines, making recommendations as appropriate to facilitate a complete rehabilitative process. Participates in Performance Improvement and Risk Management.

Responsibilities

  • Provides treatment and services within their license's scope, and as required by law and regulation.
  • Accountable for the implementation of a written treatment plan and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated goals.
  • Helps train patients and the patient's family in the use of medical equipment and make recommendations for appropriate equipment as necessary.
  • Participates in planning for patient discharge by considering and communicating with patients, families, and community.
  • Continuously assesses patient's status and effects of treatment when warranted.
  • Reviews goals with patient and family as appropriate during plan of care.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate from a physical therapist assistant training program accredited by American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Required: Associate degree.
  • State of Maryland Physical Therapist Assistant License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
  • American Heart Association BLS.

Pay

Salary Range: $26.42-34.34 per hour. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
