About the Role

Axes Physical Therapy is looking for a Physical Therapy Assistant to work in our Lake St Louis Clinic. This position will be responsible for supporting Physical Therapists with patient care along the care continuum, including care, execution, counsel and planning of all therapy related treatments.

Essential Job Functions

  • Works directly with Physical Therapist to assist patients
  • Observe patients they are working with before, during and after therapy and report notes to the Physical Therapist
  • Under direction of the Physical Therapist, assigns specific exercise for the patient and helps the patients do these exercises
  • Monitor a patient's activities to make sure they are performing them correctly and to offer encouragement
  • Document patient's weekly progress in appropriate records
  • Contribute to meetings and case conferences to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care plans for patients
  • Counsels patients and their families on what to do following treatment
  • Performs job duties in alignment with organizations 8 core values
  • Functions as a cooperative, active member of the health care team
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient and physician related information
  • Assumes responsibility for continued professional growth and development, by participating in continuing education programs, and other appropriate learning experiences
  • Maintains safety and infection control standards, recognizes and reports inferior patient care and or safety hazards

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in a PT Assistant program required
  • Licensed or eligible for State of MO PTA license
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Efficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) and EMR programs

Experience

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients
  • Ability to act with integrity in regard to all matters of confidentiality
  • Ability to lift patients and help them move
  • Good attention to detail
  • Solid knowledge of anatomy
  • Knowledge of PT stretches and exercises
  • 3 or more years' experience preferred
