About the role

The role of the physical therapy assistant (PTA) within Elliot Health System is focused on the delivery of rehabilitative services. The PTA implements specific treatment programs for patients under the direction of the physical therapist and in collaboration with the health care team and according to the principles and practices of physical therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the physical therapy Plan of Care in providing skilled services to referred patients.
  • Addresses completion of goals and recommends the physical therapist update the treatment plan, as applicable. Reviews short and long terms goals and their specific time frames.
  • Affirms status of patient in relation to current plan of treatment and goals, communicating status either verbally or in writing to primary therapist and referrer, as well as other clinicians involved in the patient’s care.
  • Performs treatments within scope of practice effectively and efficiently, to promote optimal functional outcome and attainment of patient centered goals.
  • Instructs patient, family member(s), and other essential personnel in the use of home medical equipment as well as adaptive devices and the implementation of the home program.
  • Works in collaboration with aides, and other essential personnel, in the implementation and revision of the Physical Therapy Plan of Care.
  • Affords assistance in establishing and implementing discharge plan.
  • Documents assessments, treatment methods, communications with others, progress notes, home programs, discharge plans, and discharge summary. Submits charges for all services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program with a minimum Associates Degree required.
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) by the state of NH Physical Therapy Governing Board Required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • 3+ years’ experience in outpatient orthopedics.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program with a minimum Associates Degree required.
  • Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) by the state of NH Physical Therapy Governing Board Required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • 3+ years’ experience in outpatient orthopedics.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR).

Pay

  • Salary commensurate with experience.

Schedule

  • 32 hours a week on days with 2 nights until 7pm required.
  • Flexible schedule otherwise.
