About the role

Work alongside our Physical Therapists to provide hands-on, patient-centered care while helping patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence. The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for patient care under the direction of a Physical Therapist. Supervises and aids in direct patient care and related activities as needed.
Responsibilities
- Provides physical therapy treatments according to the physical therapists’ treatment plan
- Communicates with manager and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, problems or plans
- Records daily treatment notes, portions of monthly progress notes, and discharge summaries timely and completely
- Maintains patient records confidentially
- Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in accurate and timely manner
- Implements and executes an established patient treatment plan under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Communicates with patient, families, referring physicians and other members of the team
- Provides timely written documentation per facility and department requirements
- Develops and enhances clinical and professional skills through knowledge and professional associations
- Communicates with patient, families and other clinical staff of treatment variations
- Provides timely written documentation as required by insurance provider to meet licensing, certification, regulatory, reimbursement requirements and physician treatment plan
- Supports and participates in department operations and development
- Reports any changes in patient status or needs to supervising therapist on a timely basis
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current New York State Physical Therapist Assistant license
- CPR certification required
- One year as a Physical Therapy Assistant or comparable internship
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management
