Physical Therapy Assistant

Work alongside our Physical Therapists to provide hands-on, patient-centered care while helping patients regain strength, mobility, and confidence. The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for patient care under the direction of a Physical Therapist. Supervises and aids in direct patient care and related activities as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical therapy treatments according to the physical therapists’ treatment plan
• Communicates with manager and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, problems or plans
• Records daily treatment notes, portions of monthly progress notes, and discharge summaries timely and completely
• Maintains patient records confidentially
• Records treatment charges daily and completes charge tickets in accurate and timely manner
• Implements and executes an established patient treatment plan under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
• Communicates with patient, families, referring physicians and other members of the team
• Provides timely written documentation per facility and department requirements
• Develops and enhances clinical and professional skills through knowledge and professional associations
• Communicates with patient, families and other clinical staff of treatment variations
• Provides timely written documentation as required by insurance provider to meet licensing, certification, regulatory, reimbursement requirements and physician treatment plan
• Supports and participates in department operations and development
• Reports any changes in patient status or needs to supervising therapist on a timely basis
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current New York State Physical Therapist Assistant license
• CPR certification required
• One year as a Physical Therapy Assistant or comparable internship
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management
