Primary Responsibilities
- Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum's commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
- Consistently demonstrates technical proficiency in physical therapy treatment implementation
- Implements, progresses and adjusts the physical therapy treatment plan as appropriate to changes in patient status, and provides for the safety and well-being of the patient during the treatment session
- Explains the physical therapy procedures and equipment to patients and checks for understanding
- Determines and documents the patient's treatments and responses in the physical therapy chart and completes all documentation in an accurate, legible and timely manner
- Reports any and all changes in the patient's condition to the Physical Therapist as immediacy dictates
- Acts as Clinical Instructor (CI) and mentor to Physical Therapy Assistant students
- Maintains an on-time patient appointment schedule in accordance with established department standard for productivity
- Alters schedule to meet department of patient needs
- Maintains productivity outside of patient schedule
- Self-identifies potential unsafe systems, processes and/or situations, and reports them using the appropriate forms to the appropriate employee
- Maintains a clean, neat and safe environment for patients and staff according to company and department policies
- Affords assistance in the orientation and training of new staff members, and the development of new procedures as required
- Performs routine maintenance of clinical and non-clinical areas and equipment as needed
- Maintains professional growth within the department though participation in external continuing education courses
- Adheres to Universal Precautions at all times
- Adheres to safety policies and procedures at all times
- Uses, protects, and discloses Optum patients' protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- Graduate of APTA-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Current California Physical Therapy Assistant license
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross)
Preferred Qualification
- 1+ years of experience working as a Physical Therapy Assistant
Pay and Benefits
The hourly pay for this role will range from $24.00 - $43.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
