Compensation

The hourly rate for this role is $29-$35 an hour based on years of experience.

Schedule

Monday–Friday. No weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Treat patients only under the direction of a Physical Therapist as defined in State law.
  • Perform physical therapy procedures and related tasks selected and delegated by the Supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Administer treatment with therapeutic exercise, massage, mechanical devices, and therapeutic agents that use the properties of air, water, electricity, sound, or light.
  • Make minor modifications to treatment plans within the predetermined plan of care.
  • Assist the physical therapist with evaluations and document treatment progress.
  • Performance of selected and delegated tasks assessed by the supervising physical therapist.
  • Shall not perform interpretation of referrals, physical therapy evaluation, re-evaluation, major modification of treatment plan, final discharge of the patient, or therapeutic techniques beyond the skill and knowledge of the PTA or without proper supervision.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an A.P.T.A accredited therapy assistant program with a minimum of an Associate’s degree.
  • Eligible for State Board Examination; must pass the licensing exam to continue practice beyond a temporary license.
  • Must maintain all requirements of State licensure.
  • Strong orthopedic and manual skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multimodal, patient-centered approach.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and caring.

Physical Demands

This role is classified as 'medium duty' per the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (U.S. Department of Labor). Key demands include:

  • Lifting assistance required for loads exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Sit/Stand/Walk ratios are approximately equal (33% each) and remain within the therapist’s control based on tasks.

Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Supervising Licensed Physical Therapist, Site Supervisor, Clinical Director, Owners, and Directors.
