Responsibilities
- Administers physical therapy treatments, interventions, and/or physical agents under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.
- Treats patients in various settings such as acute care, nursing homes, short-term rehabilitation, and outpatient clinics.
- Independently carries out the physical therapy treatment plan of care as established by the Physical Therapist.
- Maintains licensure by obtaining required continuing education units (CEUs) as determined by the NYS Practice Act.
- Adheres to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements, and Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
- Determines the need for follow-up visits to maximize functional outcomes and documents these determinations.
- Completes all required documentation following treatment sessions, ensuring that the documentation reflects the care provided and the outcomes achieved.
- Maintains current knowledge and awareness of insurance regulations related to the provision of therapy services.
- Acts fiscally responsible in the use and request of supplies, and in submitting patient charges in a timely manner.
- Coordinates patient care with other clinical team members to ensure optimal patient care and communication.
- Maintains and enhances personal and professional knowledge, as well as promoting professional standards in physical therapy.
- Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
- Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a team inter- and intra-departmentally to facilitate the department's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- Communicates with supervising therapists through written or oral means regarding the progress of assigned patients and/or unexpected changes in patient status.
- Modifies the treatment plan based on anticipated functional outcomes in consultation with the therapists and documents findings in the record.
Requirements
- Completed degree from an accredited PTA program.
- NYS Physical Therapy Assistant license or valid temporary permit.
- BLS CPR certification within 6 months of date of hire.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant is preferred but not required.
- New graduates will be considered.

Physical Requirements
- Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
- Frequent typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking.
- Constant hearing.

- Occasional bodily fluids/blood-borne exposure.

Pay Range
USD $28.98/Hr. - USD $43.47/Hr.
