Responsibilities
- Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under the supervision of a Doctor of Physical Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy.
- Assist in treating patients by preparing heat and ice packs, paraffin dips, helping patients to the pool, guiding them to exercise equipment, monitoring motion, tracking exertion levels, and guiding prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.
- Ensure operation of treatment equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
- Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
- Prepare patients for therapy by welcoming, comforting, and assisting them into sessions.
- Provide information to patients by answering questions, addressing concerns, and allaying fears.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and a safe, clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Prepare equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering them to the treatment area, positioning equipment, and assisting patients on equipment.
- Prepare treatment rooms by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
- Answer calls from physician offices, hospitals, and patients with exemplary customer service skills.
- Maintain physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying receipts.
- Provide front desk coverage as needed, including answering calls and assisting with scheduling.
- Perform other front desk duties and assignments as required.
Requirements
- Must live within 15-20 minutes of your home office and be responsible for your own transportation.
- Knowledge of Anatomy & Kinesiology, therapy equipment, patient behavior and needs, proper strengthening techniques, and use of restraints/aggressive behavior management practices.
- Ability to complete in-service training, observe and evaluate patient conditions, maintain appropriate conduct, create and maintain records, and write brief reports.
- Strong communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, use hands, reach with arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
Pay
The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is $17–18.50/hr. Compensation is based on relevant experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and geography.
Schedule
- Tuesday/Thursday: 2pm–7pm
- Wednesday: 8am–2pm
- Friday: 8am–6pm
