Physical Therapy Aide

About the Role

We are looking for a per diem Physical Therapy Aide - Float to join our Physical Therapy team to assist in coverage for our clinics. This role supports various levels of personnel in clinical activities, including patient set-ups, transportation, routine ambulation, and therapeutic techniques. The Aide also maintains department inventory, assists with clean-up, and performs receptionist/clerical duties as needed. This is an excellent mentoring opportunity for those interested in pursuing a career in Physical Therapy and gaining clinical experience prior to applying to a program.

Responsibilities

• Administer routine patient treatment and care under the direct supervision of Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants.
• Monitor patient reactions to therapy and report significant changes or developments to the therapist.
• Transport and escort patients to Physical Therapy treatment as needed.
• Assist in general department maintenance by performing light housekeeping tasks on a frequent basis.
• Change linen in patient treatment areas per department procedure.
• Perform scheduled cleaning and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
• Order therapy supplies and maintain inventory of equipment and linen.
• Perform receptionist and general clerical duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Stay informed of healthcare issues, changing department procedures, and other relevant information by attending staff meetings and reviewing communications.
• Use PT exercise software to format exercise programs for patients and clinical staff.
• Train other PT Aides on clinic-specific duties.
• Maintain confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of high school, GED, or equivalent (required).
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree (preferred).
• BLS certification (required).
• Prior experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
• Physical Therapy office experience (highly desired).
• Strong interest in physical therapy or health professions as a career (preferred).
• Ability to complete the Rebound Physical Therapy Department training program within two months of employment.
• Effective organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Ability to multi-task efficiently and prioritize in a dynamic environment.

Physical Requirements

• Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Extensive periods of standing and walking.
• Frequent lifting, moving, or assisting patients weighing up to 300 pounds or more with assistance from other staff using proper body mechanics.
• Frequent carrying of 20-30 pounds for distances of 100-200 feet.
• Frequent pushing, pulling, bending, crouching, crawling, squatting, getting into awkward positions, and stair-climbing.
• Corrected vision and hearing within normal range for staff and patient safety.
• Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other clinic-related conditions.
