In addition to providing comprehensive physical therapy services, Senior Physical Therapists support staff development, assist with clinical operations, promote evidence-based practice, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Working collaboratively with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members, you will help optimize patient outcomes while fostering a culture of clinical excellence, teamwork, and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, re-evaluations, and functional assessments using evidence-based examination techniques.
• Developing individualized treatment plans with measurable short and long-term goals that promote functional independence and maximize patient outcomes.
• Providing skilled physical therapy interventions while continually assessing patient progress and modifying treatment plans as appropriate.
• Preparing timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, reassessments, discharge summaries, billing documentation, and other required medical records in accordance with RWJBarnabas Health policies and professional standards.
• Participating in discharge planning throughout each patient's episode of care and collaborating with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure successful transitions.
• Meeting productivity expectations while maintaining high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Monitoring daily caseloads, distributing patients appropriately among therapy staff, and ensuring timely patient access to care.
• Serving as a clinical resource and mentor to rehabilitation staff by demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge, evidence-based practice, and strong clinical decision-making.
• Assisting with the orientation, onboarding, and clinical competency training of newly hired therapists and rehabilitation staff.
• Providing guidance regarding treatment protocols, clinical best practices, and the safe use of rehabilitation equipment.
• Supervising physical therapy students, supporting student education programs, completing required evaluations, and collaborating with academic institutions.
• Assisting with program development, quality improvement initiatives, departmental projects, and implementation of evidence-based clinical practices.
• Supporting the development, review, and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
• Collaborating with clinical leadership to identify staff education needs and support ongoing professional development.
• Participating in interdisciplinary meetings, family conferences, departmental committees, and organizational workgroups that support patient care and operational excellence.
• Maintaining effective communication with supervisors, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure seamless integration of clinical and operational functions.
• Demonstrating flexibility by supporting departmental needs and performing additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited physical therapy program.
• Current and unrestricted New Jersey Physical Therapist license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification through American Heart Association.
• Demonstrated clinical experience in physical therapy with advanced knowledge of evaluation, treatment planning, patient management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience is preferred.

• Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based physical therapy practice, clinical mentoring, staff education, quality improvement, patient and family education, clinical documentation, discharge planning, caseload management, interdisciplinary collaboration, and rehabilitation program development.
• Ability to mentor staff, support onboarding and competency development, supervise students, coordinate clinical activities, contribute to departmental initiatives, and serve as a clinical resource within the rehabilitation team.
• Ability to work a full-time schedule and participate in required meetings, continuing education, committee activities, and professional development programs.

Pay

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $111,300.80 - $128,544.00 per year. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills, and professional experience.
