Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients across all age groups using age- and disability-appropriate assessments.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans to promote functional improvement.
- Assess patient abilities and limitations, including neuromuscular movement and stability, sensation, perception, muscle strength, range of motion, body mechanics, vocational and prevocational abilities, and developmental milestones.
- Evaluate home and work environments and recommend necessary physical barrier modifications or ergonomic adaptations.
- Administer therapy consistent with the treatment plan, using suitable procedures, equipment, and techniques.
- Recommend and arrange for the delivery of therapeutic equipment as needed.
- Continuously re-evaluate patients, monitor progress, and adjust treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Make discharge recommendations when appropriate.
- Collaborate and co-treat with therapists and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated, multidisciplinary care.
- Facilitate the use of orthotic and prosthetic devices to enhance patient mobility and function.
Qualifications
- Education: As required by licensure.
- Skills: Ability to render patient services, supervise LPTAs, Therapy Aides, and students; excellent organizational skills; competency in obtaining and interpreting information related to patient needs; knowledge of normal growth and development; understanding of treatment needed; in-home program development and family training; knowledge in appropriate selection and use of DME; computer skills.
- Licensure: Current Physical Therapist license for applicable state or Physical Therapist Compact Privilege for applicable state required; BLS for Provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
