Evaluations and Treatment

Responsible for evaluating patients, establishing a treatment plan and goals, providing patient treatment according to the plan, updating the plan as needed, and documenting accurately and timely.

  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth continuous care of patients.
  • Mentors and provides oversight to new caregivers, physical therapist assistants, and therapy aides.
  • Provides clinical instruction and training to students.
  • May recommend and participate in the development of new services and programs, quality improvement and monitoring activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

May act as a liaison with nursing, medical and other therapy staffs to facilitate problem solving and coordination of other services and acts as an educational resource.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Physical Therapist License in the State of Washington.
  • Basic Life Support Skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and display flexibility in a fast-paced and changing work environment.
  • Ability to assess patients' conditions and exercise independent judgment.

Working Conditions

  • Lifting patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Lifting (non-patient)/carrying occasionally up to 25 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: 1-25 lbs. of force occasionally (i.e., moving equipment).
  • Sitting, stooping, bending, squatting, kneeling occasionally.
  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
