Job Summary

The employee may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.

Responsible for providing therapy services consistent with licensure to clients including evaluation of patient, establishing plan of care, implementing treatment, directing, and educating patient and/or caregiver and documentation of the above.

Supervise therapy assistants, technicians, students, and volunteers as applicable.

Communicate with other health care providers regarding client care and treatment plans.

Provide training and education for hospital staff as requested.

Complete patient documentation in a timely manner to meet regulatory and organizational requirements.

Attend continuing education programs and present findings to appropriate staff as applicable.

Review and complete all insurance authorization requirements for patients in a timely manner.

Aid in performance improvement for rehab department and hospital.

Understand use and precautions of any treatments and equipment used.

Positively contributes to the departmental financial performance/productivity.

Patient Care

Delivers care that is consistent with the team member’s discipline in accordance with the specific therapy practice act, guidelines, and code of ethics of the respective organization, i.e., APTA, ASHA, AOTA.

Completes patient evaluations and treatments independently while maintaining patient safety.

Independently establishes/implements treatment goals and plans based on patient input and evaluation and assessment results.

Reassesses outcomes and modifies goals and plans to meet changing needs of the patient.

Schedules patient activities according to patient individual needs.

Teamwork

Develops and maintains positive relationships with team members and coworkers.

Functions as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Accepts responsibility for actions; seeks, accepts, and acts positively upon feedback from others.

Shares responsibility for effective internal communications through a team approach.

Organizes individual patient caseload in collaboration with team workload demands.

Performs daily administrative/office activities to ensure efficient flow of care within team.

Physical Demands

The job requires standing and walking constantly and frequently bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements.

Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills.

Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.

Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.
