About the role
A licensed physical therapist employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for direct and indirect care in the rehabilitation of the patient.
Education
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy
Position requirements
- Physical Therapist Tennessee licensure
- BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained thereafter
- Completion of 8 hours of education specific to Total Ankle, Hip and Knee Replacement (if assigned to that unit)
- Completion of 4 of these hours as Erlanger Online Education upon hire; additional EOLs and training assigned by Department Leadership and/or Educator
Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy evaluations
- Develop an individual plan of treatment for each patient
- Provide age-appropriate treatment
- Participate in team meetings and discharge planning
- Educate patients and their families in the patient’s treatment program
- Direct Physical Therapist Assistants and Patient Care Technicians in patient treatments
- Maintain accurate written reports
- Participate in the on-call rotation for weekends and holidays
- Maintain standards as set down by the American Physical Therapy Association regarding treatment procedures and professional ethics
- Participate in continuing education programs
- Participate in community education
- Act as clinical instructor for PT and PTA students
- Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement efforts of the department and the Medical Center
