Physical Therapist - PRN

About the Role

A Physical Therapist will help patients recover from injuries and illnesses, improve their mobility, manage pain, and prevent further injury. You will develop personalized treatment plans and provide ongoing support throughout the rehabilitation process.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Physical Therapy Department staff, including Physical Therapy Assistants and Rehab Technicians.
• Observe and evaluate treatment effects, recommend changes to physicians or physician extenders as needed.
• Perform appropriate assessments on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
• Formulate and evaluate teaching plans, including family in the process as appropriate.
• Demonstrate knowledge of physical therapy modalities.
• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
• Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly, maintaining department cleanliness and safety.
• Interact professionally with patients and families, involving them in the formation of the plan of care.
• Communicate appropriately and clearly with physicians, staff, and the administrative team.
• Coordinate and direct patient care to ensure patients’ needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
• Maintain records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and function under stressful situations.
• Maintain good working relationships within the department and with other departments.
• Consult other departments to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.
• Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies.
• Assist with orientation and in-service training for certified department staff members, participate in guidance and educational programs.
• Assist in ordering supplies and maintain adequate PAR levels.
• Participate in infection control, departmental training, equipment training, and organizational CQI activities.
• Participate in educational staff performance improvement in-services.

Requirements

• Supervision of two Physical Therapy Assistants (PTAs).
• Doctorate or Master's degree in Physical Therapy.
• Current state license to practice Physical Therapy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of various therapeutic techniques and modalities.
• Experience working with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
• Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

• Considerable physical activity: heavy physical work, including lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to fifty (50) or more pounds.
• Physical work constitutes more than 70% of the job.
• Push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds to a minimum height of three (3) feet, and carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty (50) feet.
• Standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
• Bending and/or stooping for more than one (1) hour at a time.
