As a Physical Therapist, you will utilize various treatments to help patients increase strength, range of motion, endurance, and coordination. Because this position requires close physical interaction, you have the unique opportunity to develop strong patient relationships.

The ideal Physical Therapist is a highly skilled and adaptable professional dedicated to restoring function, improving mobility, and enhancing patient outcomes. This individual demonstrates strong critical thinking skills in evaluating and developing treatment plans while effectively collaborating with physicians, co-workers, and support staff. They excel in prioritizing patient care, ensuring safety awareness, and adapting techniques to provide individualized care. Often, patients are dealing with pain, so sensitivity is essential. Equally important is giving patients the drive and support they need to work hard and regain their health.

This is an ideal role for a new grad who is open-minded, willing to step outside of their comfort zone, and is looking to get their foot in the door. This is a great steppingstone position that will allow you to advance your skills with each patient interaction and one that can lead to a full-time role and beyond.

Schedule

A PRN caregiver in this position works varying shifts, Monday-Friday, between 7:00AM – 7:30PM. Only two shifts per week will be required past 5:00PM. Hours will vary based on clinic needs.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
  • Perform initial and on-going assessments of patient's condition.
  • Establish, revise, and evaluate a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family according to their capabilities and desires.
  • Perform therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
  • Supervise activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or certificate.
  • Graduate of a Physical Therapy Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Current State licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a clinical area.
  • New graduate candidates are welcome.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
  • Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
  • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
  • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
  • Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements and to read all patient monitors.
  • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
  • Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay

The pay range for new hires in this position is a minimum of $50.00 per hour to a maximum of $50.00 per hour. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.) or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package (e.g., healthcare, dental and vision benefits, retirement savings account contributions, etc.).
